This is the 1972-73 Kootenay International Junior Hockey League season. The league is renamed from the West Kootenay Junior League with the addition of the Spokane, Washington, USA based Spokane Valley Kings.

- The Kimberley Knights join the league.
- The Grand Forks Border Bruins withdrew for the season, they return for the 1973-74 season.
- The Spokane Valley Kings are renamed the Spokane Rockets.
