The 1971–72 Pittsburgh Penguins season was the franchise's fifth season in the National Hockey League. The Penguins finished 4th in the West Division and made the playoffs for the second time in franchise history. They lost in the Quarter-finals to the Chicago Black Hawks 4 games to 0.
