This is the 1970-71 Women's Intercollegiate Athletic Union season. This is the league's last season prior to being transformed into the Ontario Women's Intercollegiate Athletics Association.  This was different from what the men's league had done as the Quebec Universities Athletic Association was formed for the 1971-72 season when the hockey league was split along provincial boundaries.  The Ligue de Hockey Universitaire Féminin would be formed in 1988 from member schools in the QUAA that had women's ice hockey programs.

The league would add the York Yeowomen and the Montreal based Loyola Warriors making it a eight team league

The Guelph Gryphons would win the conference tournament possibly beating the York Yeowomen in the final

note: Loyola College would be merged with Sir George Williams University to form Concordia University in 1975
