
This is the 1961-62 season of the Western Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Union. It was a competition for the Hardy Trophy. The league was renamed the Western Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Association following this season. This was the first season for the University of British Columbia.

The University of Manitoba was suspended because it had refused to field a football team. The team played a number of exhibition games against local senior and junior teams, and tied (3-3) and lost (4-5) at the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
