The 1956 Frozen Four was held March 15-17, 1956, in Colorado Springs, Colorado at Broadmoor Ice Palace.

The participants were:

Michigan, playing its ninth Frozen Four in as many opportunities, defeated Michigan Tech 7-5 in the first national championship game to be played between schools from the same state, winning its second straight national championship, its fifth in six years, and its sixth overall.
