This is the 1953-54 season and playoffs of the Maritime Major Hockey League.
This was the league's fourth and, as it turned out, last season. The only other major amateur league in Canada, the Quebec Senior Hockey League (Major), had turned pro in the off-season. There was no other league of the status.
The Maritime league was deep in debt. The relitavely small cities of the region could not support a near-professional league.
