At this point Rimouski's goaltender was injured. The team did not have a spare on their roster. Mont Joli and the other teams in the league did carry another goaltender on their rosters.
Mont Joli refused permission for Rimouski to use another team's goaltender. They stated that Rimouski should have carried a spare like the other teams did. The league agreed and awarded the championship to Mont Joli.
These playoffs were taking too long. The champions of the other intermediate league, the Victoriaville Tigres, would have had to wait weeks to play off against the Lower St Lawrence champions. The Quebec Amateur Hockey Association awarded the provincial title to Victoriaville.
