The Canadian Amateur Hockey Association (CAHA) suspended the Quebec Amateur Hockey Association (QAHA) at the beginning of March. This meant that Quebec teams were ineligible for the Memorial Cup. The CAHA offered to reinstate any individual Quebec teams that wanted to leave the QAHA.
The Quebec junior final between the Quebec Citadelles and the Montreal Junior Canadiens was very controversial becasue of violence. The QAHA demanded that the Citadelles post a peace bond in order to continue in the series. The Citadelles instead left the QAHA and joined the CAHA for the Memorial Cup playoffs. The QAHA suspended the Citadelles and awarded the championship to the Montreal Junior Canadiens.
