This is the 1939-40 season of the Quebec Senior Hockey League:
The Montreal Victorias dropped out of hockey after last season because of the increased professionalism of amateur hockey. They were replaced by a team from Westmount which, however, dropped out before the season began.
McGill University dropped out of this league on October 18. They said that with World War II starting, students did not have enough time to play much hockey. However, McGill did remain in the International Intercollegiate League.
