This is the 1927-28 season of the CIAU Central. Queen's University dropped out of the league this season for financial reasons. Its hockey program was operating at a loss. It still entered a team in the Ontario Hockey Association's intermediate series.

- The University of Montreal's team was also taking financial losses. Barely 50 people attended the last Toronto-Montreal game at the Montreal Forum. The team would drop out of intercollegiate play after this season.
