The Winnipeg Maroons joined the Central Amateur Hockey League for the 1925-26 season. The Maroons raided Manitoba Senior Hockey League teams for players. The MSHL had ended the 1924-25 season with 5 teams, 3 from Manitoba, and 2 from Thunder Bay. The league was run jointly by the Manitoba Amateur Hockey Association and Thunder Bay Amateur Hockey Association. Both associations had problems, besides a quality player shortage. In Thunder Bay, Kenora wanted in. Both Port Arthur and Fort William were invited to join the CAHL, neither would accept. In Manitoba, first Selkirk withdrew, then the Tigers proposed a 4 team league, with them as Manitoba only team. The Tigers made no secret of the fact that they wanted Brandon ousted.

Manitoba Senior AAA Hockey History

History[]

MAHA could not fulfill their obligation to the Thunder Bay Amateur Hockey Association to provide two teams to play in an inter-provincial league, so the Manitoba Senior Hockey League ceased operating.

Later on in the season the MAHA promoted the Winnipeg League from intermediate to senior level partly in recognition of its level of talent and partly to give Manitoba an entry into the Allan Cup playoffs.
