For the 1924-25 season, the Manitoba Amateur Hockey Association were to have the winner of the Manitoba Senior Hockey League playoff with the winner of the Intermediate game between the champions of Manitoba and Thunder Bay. However, the MAHA cancelled the game, and Fort Frances appealed the ruling to the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association. CAHA asked the MAHA to give them a game with the Senior champs.
