The 1897 Prince Edward Island Senior Hockey League season was the first season of the league. The newly-formed Charlottetown Abegweits, the Charlottetown Victorias, and the Summerside Hockey Club competed for the PEI Senior Championship in a double round robin tournament. The Abegweits won the inaugural island title by defeating Summerside 4-3 on March 30, 1897.
