Here is an teams that played 1897/1898 Season from New York Times 11/29/1897
As the two main two indoor arenas in the New York City area were St. Nicholas Rink (on West 66th St. in Manhattan, which opened in 1896) and Clermont Avenue Skating Rink in Brooklyn, many teams would travel to New York City to play some games. These were likely the only two indoor hockey arenas in wide scale use in the northeastern United States north of Philadelphia's West Park Ice Palace and Baltimore's North Avenue Ice Palace. Brown University, Harvard University, and Yale University all played on outdoor sheets of ice on or near their campuses. University of Pennsylvania and Johns Hopkins University would play most of if not all of their games at the indoor rinks in their cities.
Other teams that played games in the area included: Columbia University New Jersey Athletic Club St. Nicholas Hockey Club US Navy Reserves Yale University
