Šimon Stránský was born on December 21, 1997 in Ostrava. He is a Czech ice hockey left winger/center currently playing with the Jukurit of the Liiga.
His older brother Matěj Stránský also plays ice hockey and their uncle Vladan Stránský used to play ice hockey as well.
Club career[]
Stránský began his junior career with the HC Vítkovice organisation. In 2014, Stránský moved to North America to play with the Prince Albert Raiders of the WHL for three seasons. In the 2015-16 season, Stránský played at the CHL Top Prospect Game.
In 2017, Stránský moved back to Europe and started his senior career with the HC Vítkovice of the Tipsport Extraliga. He played 50 regular season games and 2 play-off games in the 2017-18 season with the HC Vítkovice and he also played 3 games on loan with the AZ Havířov of the WSM Liga.
Stránský stayed for the next season with the HC Vítkovice of the Tipsport Extraliga and played there all 52 games in the regular season and 8 games in the play-offs. He also played 2 games on loan with the HC Poruba of the Chance Liga (formerly WSM Liga) in that season.
Stránský began the 2019-20 season with the HC Vítkovice of the Tipsport Extraliga but before the transfer deadline after 36 games played, he was loaned to the HC Kometa Brno of the Tipsport Extraliga for the remainder of the season. He finished there the season with 13 games played.
In 2020, Stránský signed a two-year contract with the Jukurit of the Liiga.
International career[]
Stránský played with the Czech National Team at the 2014 World U17 Hockey Challenge, 2014 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament (winning there silver), 2015 World U18 Championship and at the 2016 and 2017 World Junior Championships.
